COP16 Panel Discussion on Forest Fire Prevention

On December 10th, 2024, The Strategic Centre together with Monash University presented the results of the joint project “Prevention of Forest Fires Outbreaks Across Southern and Southwestern Regions of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” at the panel discussion during UNCCD COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
 
Professor Abraham Althonayan, The SC’s Senior Executive moderated the panel discussion with King Khalid University, Abha, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia National Centre for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) and Monash University.
 
The panel theme “Managing Forest-Fires in Arid Areas: Key Strategy for Reducing Land Degradation and Combating Desertification” covered international experience of forest fire prevention research projects and fire management frameworks.
